Agricultural Alternative Loan Program

The Missouri Department of Agriculture offers direct loans through the Agriculture Development Fund to finance the production, processing and marketing needs of an alternative agricultural enterprise.

With assistance from this loan, a person with a disability who is interested in pursuing a career in a form of alternative agriculture can start his/her own agribusiness.

Assistive Technology Device Demonstration

Missouri Assistive Technology provides support to 8 assistive technology demonstration programs. The programs allow individuals with disabilities and the professionals who support them the opportunity to learn about and try out different devices, enabling them to make an informed decision about the equipment that best meets the person’s needs.

BUILD Missouri

The BUILD Missouri Program is an incentive tool that allows the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Missouri Development Finance Board to provide a financial incentive for the location or expansion of large business projects. The incentives are designed to reduce necessary infrastructure and equipment expenses if a project can demonstrate a need for funding.

Customized Training Program

Missouri Works Customized Training is a state-funded training assistance program that helps eligible companies create or retain jobs in Missouri. It focuses on developing a competitive workforce and is a program of the Department of Economic Development, Division of Workforce Development.

The worker being trained could be someone with a disability who needs a skills upgrade to remain gainfully employed.

Equipment Technology Consortium

Missouri Assistive Technology operates the Equipment Technology Consortium which is a short-term assistive technology equipment loan program for school districts and agencies in Missouri. Districts or agencies can borrow equipment on behalf of individuals with disabilities to try out before purchasing, for use during the time equipment is being repaired or for other short-term needs.

To borrow equipment, complete and submit the Equipment Technology Consortium Online Device Loan Request Form. The request will be emailed to Missouri Assistive Technology and processed.

Linked Deposit Program

The Missouri Linked Deposit Program is well-funded with a total of $720 million available, and the State Treasurer’s office is prepared to use the program to its highest potential. The program has proven successful in creating and retaining jobs, expanding the economy and strengthening communities statewide for nearly 25 years.

Some of the jobs created or retained as a result of this program could be jobs held by workers with disabilities.

Microloans

Microloans are typically smaller than traditional business loans. They are usually provided by community-based, nonprofit micro-finance institutions that want to help entrepreneurs start or grow a business.

While some micro-financing organizations tend to favor applicants with low cash reserves or poor credit, or those living in rural or disadvantaged communities, there are specific micro-financing programs for specific types of businesses or business owners (women or veterans, for example).

Missouri Agribusiness Revolving Loan Fund

The Missouri Agribusiness Revolving Loan Fund offers financing to Qualifying Missouri Agribusinesses, such as value-added agriculture enterprises, agriculture support businesses, marketers or retailers of agricultural products, and businesses with emerging agricultural technology.

A person with a disability who wishes to start or expand an agribusiness can use the proceeds from this loan fund to do so.

Missouri Works Program

As the state's number one incentive tool for expansion and retention, this program helps businesses access capital through withholdings or tax credits to embark on facility expansions and create jobs. This program can also help businesses purchase equipment to maintain its facility in Missouri.

Show Me Loans – Assistive Technology

Show Me Loans offers low-interest loans to Missourians with disabilities. The general loan gives Missourians an option to purchase assistive technology equipment, home access improvements or vehicle access modifications for persons with disabilities.

Supported Employment

Supported Employment services may be available for individuals with the most significant disabilities requiring special on-the-job supervision. Ongoing support services are provided for workers as well. If an individual is eligible, Vocational Rehabilitation could provide up to nine months of community-based job training if other funding sources are available to provide long-term, follow-along, on-the-job support services that the individual needs to remain employed.

WorkAbility Loans

WorkAbility Loans are available for Missourians with disabilities who need financing for computers and other equipment, and/or modifications to their home that will enable them to have an employment outcome working from their home or a telework center.
