Welcome to The Sierra Group Foundation 2013 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends

"Exhilarating and transformative!" are the words Janet Fiore, Chairman of the Board uses to describe the progress of The Sierra Group Foundation in 2012. "We are excelling at our mission to drive up employment for people with disabilities, including Veterans!"  This year, we continued our past programs while also acquiring a bricks and mortar training school located in Center City Philadelphia!

Our new program, The Academy at Liberty Resources, is a training school for adults with disabilities that capitalizes on the right combination of skills training, assistive technology and employer connections to make our job seekers competitive in today’s marketplace.  Here are some highlights!  Since July we have:

  • Placed five students at five different regional employers
  • Received in-kind support/donations from organizations including: Starbucks, Modell’s, The Philadelphia Business Journal & Stepware.com
  • Hosted successful "Disability Mentoring Day" with 20 businesses and 45 students
  • Hosted "Agency Referral Day" with 22 Agencies and Senator Casey’s staff
  • Created "Team Academy" to run/walk/wheel in the 2011/12 Philadelphia Marathons

Since its inception, the businesses that have used our Employment Incentives web portal have reported that they secured over $7,100 in various Federal and State tax credits, deductions, and training offsets that they would have not otherwise known about.
